Funke Akindele Tells Women Creatives to Build With Intention as She Launches Second Edition of Creative Blueprint Masterclass

Published

on

Actress, filmmaker, and record-breaking box-office director Funke Akindele has delivered what is arguably her most personal public address to date, using the second edition of her Creative Blueprint Masterclass to tell a room full of aspiring female creatives that the only path to lasting success in the creative industry runs through intentionality, self-discovery, and the willingness to do the unglamorous work.

Speaking at the event themed “Giving Today, Gaining Tomorrow,” Akindele reflected candidly on the road that led her here — a path marked by no access, no guidance, and no clear direction. She told attendees that there was no clear path and that there were a lot of uncertainties, before arriving at the philosophy that now drives everything she does: growth does not happen by chance — it is something you build intentionally.

She pressed the point further in a post-event reflection, describing a moment of sharp personal clarity on stage where she told the audience plainly that talent is never enough, that growth has to be intentional, that reinvention is necessary, and that evolving is the only way to truly stand out and last.

The Masterclass itself was conceived as a direct response to the absence Akindele herself experienced early in her career. She described it as her own way of giving back — arguing that the more you succeed, the greater your obligation to pass on knowledge to the next generation, and expressing deep regret that she never had access to the kind of platform, role models, or structured guidance she was now offering to others.

The second edition, supported by partners including Wema Bank, Woodhall Capital, Red Brick PR, and Dano Milk, expanded significantly on the inaugural event’s content and scale — driven by the testimonies of participants from the previous year who, in Akindele’s own words, are doing well now.

The philosophy she shared with attendees is one she has lived publicly. She has previously attributed four consecutive years of box-office dominance to her intentionality and desire for perfection, insisting that behind every successful project is a refusal to be distracted by current success — staying focused, self-aware, and original regardless of what has already been achieved. For the women who filled the room at the Creative Blueprint Masterclass, the message was clear: the blueprint exists, the access is now available — but the building still has to be done by hand.

Madam Saje Knew About Some Women I Dated but Never Told My Wife – Yinka Quadri

Published

on

Veteran Nollywood actor Yinka Quadri has spoken about his decades-long friendship with fellow actress Saje, which dates back to their early days in the movie industry.

According to Quadri, Saje was already close to his wife before the couple married, and she has kept that bond over the years without engaging in gossip. He said she knew about some of his relationships with other women but never passed the information on to his wife, describing her as someone who can be trusted.

The Agba Aki  of Oro Kingdom also recalled a time he considered helping Saje’s husband, Rafiu Balogun, during a difficult period in their marriage. He told Saje that Rafiu wanted to accompany him to a movie location, expecting her to object because of their misunderstanding. Instead, she welcomed the idea. Quadri said he felt obliged to inform her because of her friendship with his wife.
The actor also spoke on pay in the movie industry, insisting he would not expect to earn more than younger colleagues simply because of his experience.

Citing Funke Akindele and Lateef Adedimeji as examples, he said, “If I’m being called to a job, and Funke Akindele and Lateef Adedimeji are going to be paid the same amount, I’m an enemy of God if I’m expecting that they should pay me more than him.”

The veteran actor added that actors negotiate their fees differently. Some accept whatever they are offered, while others insist on the amount they want. He concluded that such differences are simply part of life.

Fatherhood Changed His Approach to Stunts

Remi explained that becoming a father has made him think differently about performing risky scenes.

The actor, who has taken on physically demanding roles during his career, said the responsibility of being a parent has made him more cautious about putting himself in situations that could threaten his safety.
